Thanksgiving Message From Barb Zipperian

It’s autumn in North America! Our Canadian sisters will celebrate Thanksgiving in October and our sisters in the U.S. will celebrate the holiday in November.

Thanksgiving is about family and food, and for many, football. Our family in Alpha Omicron Pi is blessed and we have so much to be thankful for as we approach this season.

We thank you for your membership, service and dedication and wish you the best during this season of gratitude.

Fraternally with thanksgiving and love,

Barb Dunn Zipperian

Person I Am Today

I am thankful for AOII because being a member of this wonderful organization has provided me with many opportunities in my life. AOII has introduced me to my very best friends (and sisters) and has allowed me to become the person I am today.

A Guiding Rule To My Life...

I am thankful for AOII because it has helped turn me into the positive well rounded woman I am today and I enjoy helping our collegiate members to hopefully have that same outcome. AOII serves as a guiding rule to my life, an example to follow, and a goal to strive towards to become a better friend, sister, and AOII.

A Home Where Ever I go!

I am thankful for AOII giving me a home where ever I go! With AOII, I have so many amazing women that I can call my sisters. I am so thankful for the wonderful ideals and values that I have learned from our beautiful Ritual and for the fact that AOII teaches me new things about myself every single day!

AOII teaches me how to be a stronger, better woman as well as teaching me just how much of a challenge I can handle with the help of my AOII sisters. No matter where I go, AOII is there to get me through any difficult times.

Whether it is with my initiated chapter at Middle Tennessee State University, the wonderful chapter I have worked with at West Virginia University, or the incredible new women I am sure to meet being a part of our Kennesaw State University colonization, I know I can always turn to AOII's everywhere to give me the love and support that makes any place feel like home!

Whether For A Laugh Or A Cry...

I am thankful for AOII because it has always provided me with a support system. My sisters are always there for me whether for a laugh or a cry, I know I will always have someone to call upon any time of day. Without AOII, I would not have been blessed with the many opportunities our organization has provided. One of those opportunities is getting to meet sisters from all over who teach me new things and make lasting impressions on my life. I will always be thankful for that :-).

Help Start the Northern Florida Alumnae Chapter

Interested in helping to start the Northern Florida Alumnae Chapter? Please read below :-)

Dear Sisters,

I am a Kappa Phi from McGill University who moved down here in 1993 and have been looking to join, or form, a local AOII Alumnae chapter. I contacted headquarters and was given your email addresses, and hope that you will let me know of your interest. My initial goal is to set up our chapter and host four events per year. I know that we are all busy with kids and careers, so I thought this was a manageable goal.

For January, we could join with the collegiate Gamma Omicron chapter in Gainesville and attend their Founder's Day ritual. In the Spring we could do a fun event, maybe an after hours wine and cheese, or Art Walk, somewhere in Jacksonville.

For Summer perhaps a spa event, BBQ, or picnic, with our beach sisters. And in the Fall a ghost tour in St. Augustine, or a service project for Thanksgiving. If you are interested, please respond to this email, and include:

1. Your name and contact information.

2. Your anticipated level of participation; i.e. you would only be able to make it to one event per year, but do want to be included and be a member of the chapter.

3. Whether you would like to be involved in the executive board of the new chapter (I could use some help :-)

4. Whether your participation is limited geographically; i.e. you could only attend events held in Amelia Island or Fernandina.

5. Any thing else you'd like to share!

Roses,

Isabelle Lopez

Strong, Independent and Hardworking Woman

I am thankful for AOII because, without this organization and its morals, rituals, and values that were instilled in me throughout my collegiate experience, I would not be the strong, independent, and hardworking woman that I am today. I have learned many wonderful things because of AOII and will continue to better myself through the support of AOII and my sisters. I don’t know where I would be in life without this organization and all of the wonderful women with in it, surrounding me in my daily life, and I am so thankful for that.

Thankful...

November is always a time of year where we begin to reflect about the things we are thankful for. Whether it's family, our jobs or our health. This month we will be sharing thoughts as to why someone is thankful for AOII!
